I plan to interview my friend who is 17 years old, and she goes by she/her. She doesn’t want her name to be used so I will just call her Jane during the interview, to refer to her during my writing. Her cultural background is Mexican culture and will talk about how important her culture is to her and why it’s so special to not only her but to others who are also part of her culture. For the topic I picked misogyny more so gender roles since in Hispanic culture especially misogyny and gender roles seem to be a big part of the culture. A lot of people believe women and men should be doing certain roles and have very traditional ways of thinking when thinking of gender roles especially in things like marriage. I also hear a lot of my friends who are around my age as-well talk about the things they are expected to do because they are women and how the men in the family are treated better and not expected to do as much since some believe they have more “value” compared to women. Most of the time the daughters are expected to clean, cook, take care of siblings while the sons can do what they want and be a normal kid. Since my friend is Mexican meaning, she is also Hispanic, I feel like she will have lots to say on the matter, especially since we have talked about things like gender roles before. I feel like we can have a good conversation on the topic and her views on the matter.
